  • Seattle Children’s Play Garden: Inclusive Play for All Kids

Seattle Children’s Play Garden is a  magical place where all children can play, learn, and grow side by side. This one-acre, fully-fenced garden is more than a playground. It’s an inclusive community that celebrates children of all abilities and encourages them to express themselves freely.

A Garden for Everyone

Seattle Children’s Play Garden is intentionally designed to support kids with disabilities through recreation, socialization, employment, and community education.  From adaptive equipment to sensory-rich environments, every detail of the Play Garden nurtures inclusion.

As parents, finding spaces that welcome children of all abilities can be a challenge. It’s no wonder the Play Garden’s motto is “A Garden for Everyone”—here, barriers fade away and joyful play takes center stage.

Programs That Inspire Growth

1. Inclusive Summer Camps: At the Play Garden’s nature-based camps, children ages 3.5 to 21 explore, create, and play together, building friendships, confidence, and leadership skills.

2. Outdoor Preschool:
For children ages 3 to 5, the Play Garden blends outdoor adventure with indoor security through its preschool program, building academic, social, and emotional skills for lifelong success.

3. Free Play Opportunities:
Sometimes the best moments are unplanned. Families can enjoy Free Play daily from dawn until dusk, where kids of all ages and abilities can roam, dig, build, and simply be kids—with friendly staff nearby to support as needed. No registration, no fees—just pure, joyful play.

4. Youth Leadership Programs:
Empowering the next generation is a core value here. Teens and young adults can join leadership programs like the Junior Counselor initiative and Youth Leadership Training, helping them build confidence, compassion, and a passion for inclusion.

5. Connections for Young Adults:
The Play Garden even extends its magic to young adults, offering an eight-week social program called Connections to foster friendships, confidence, and belonging.

A Day at the Play Garden

Picture your child exploring nature, meeting animals, and creating with new friends. The Play Garden is a secure, inclusive space where imagination and creativity thrive. It’s open daily from dawn to dusk, with free exploration available outside of preschool hours (9 am–1 pm weekdays).

A Community Built on Heart

Beyond the beautiful gardens and innovative programs, the Seattle Children’s Play Garden stands as a testament to the power of community. Volunteers, parents, staff, and donors all work together to keep this gem thriving. Events, fundraisers, and seasonal activities create endless opportunities for families to connect and get involved.

Find a supportive camp, a welcoming preschool, or a special place to spend the afternoon at Seattle Children’s Play Garden—a space where every child can thrive.
